Blind Flange

A solid blind flange used to seal the end of a piping system or close off a vessel or valve opening.

Overview

The blind flange is a disc without a central bore, bolted to a mating flange to terminate a run of pipe or to blank off a nozzle, valve or pressure vessel opening. Manufactured to ASME B16.5 dimensional requirements across the full range of pressure classes, it provides a leak-tight, fully reversible closure that can be removed whenever access to the line is required. The flat or raised face seats against a gasket so the joint can be retorqued or opened for inspection without cutting pipe, making it a practical choice for the ends of headers, future tie-in points and equipment that must be isolated for maintenance.
