Socke Weld Flange
A socket weld flange with a counterbored recess that receives the pipe end for a single external fillet weld, suited to small-bore high-pressure lines.
The socket weld flange has an internal recess, or socket, into which the pipe is inserted before a single external fillet weld secures the joint. Made to ASME B16.5, it is intended for small-diameter, higher-pressure piping where a smooth bore and a strong, easily inspected weld are valued. Because the pipe locates positively in the socket, fit-up is fast and consistent, and the raised or flat face provides a conventional gasketed seal for instrument, utility and process lines that operate at elevated pressure.
